Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Basset Abdo, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, along with Professor Dr. Nady Mostafa Abdel-Karim, Professor in the Architecture Department and instructor of the Architectural Construction course for first-year students in the Civil Engineering Department, honored student Essam El-Din Shaaban, a first-year student in the Civil Engineering Department. Essam was the only student in the first year to receive an "Excellent" grade in the Architectural Construction course during the first semester. This recognition reflects the instructor's commitment to honoring and supporting outstanding students in this crucial course, which is a cornerstone in developing civil engineers' ability to read drawings and understand architectural details, ultimately contributing to the quality of architectural work and structural designs.

Professor Dr. Khaled Salah, Dean of the Faculty, expressed his gratitude to both Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Basset Abdo and Professor Dr. Nady Mostafa Abdel-Karim for this kind gesture and their encouragement of outstanding students within the faculty. He also wished the student continued excellence and success.

In a move imbued with profound meaning and significance, the city of Nasser in the Assiut Plateau has named two of its streets after prominent faculty members. The city honors the late Professor Dr. Abdel Rahman Mogahed, a professor in the Civil Engineering Department, and the late Dr. Mamdouh Ali Youssef, a professor in the Architectural Engineering Department. This gesture, undertaken by the city's administration, recognizes their significant contributions to educating generations of graduates in the Civil and Architectural Engineering departments, and their profound impact on urban development in Assiut. This initiative is part of the first phase of the Street Naming Committee's project, reflecting the city's policy of naming streets after influential figures in Assiut society who played a pivotal role in the city's development.

On behalf of the college administration and all its members, Professor Dr. Khaled Salah, Dean of the College, extends his thanks and appreciation to the Nasser City Authority in the Assiut Plateau, headed by Engineer Gihan Ammar, for this generous gesture, which reflects the city's appreciation for the scientific and community contributions made by the selected faculty members. It also reflects a high regard for the role played by Assiut University in general, and the Faculty of Engineering in particular, in matters of sustainable development, architecture, and urban planning in Upper Egypt.

The Authority had begun implementing the first phase of naming the city's streets at the end of July 2025.

In cooperation with the National Transport Institute and the Ministry of Transport, and with the approval and generous support of Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of the University, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mawla, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Khaled Salah Saeed, Dean of the Faculty, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Safwat Mohamed Abu Raya, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Mahmoud Mohamed Ahmed Awais, Professor of Roads and Traffic in the Civil Engineering Department, students from the Civil Engineering Department participated in the national study on modeling trip generation rates for Egyptian universities. This study, conducted in cooperation with the National Transport Institute and the Ministry of Transport, aims to develop accurate local trip generation rates based on real field data, thereby supporting sound traffic planning and improving the efficiency of the transportation system around major educational institutions.

Professor Dr. Khaled Salah, Dean of the Faculty, explained that:

The university's participation in such national studies reflects the academic standing of the university and the faculty, embodies academic excellence and national responsibility, and demonstrates its effective contribution to supporting development plans and building a more efficient and sustainable future. His Excellency also affirmed that the university's approval to participate in this study underscores the national and scientific role of Assiut University and the Faculty in actively contributing to research projects with developmental and strategic dimensions for the country. He expressed his gratitude to Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of the University, and Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mawla, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, for their generous approval of participation in the study and for allowing students to participate in the monitoring activities, which are highly beneficial to their academic development.

Professor Dr. Mahmoud Awais, the supervisor of the project at Assiut University, explained that the fieldwork plan involved distributing students across seven main gates of Assiut University to conduct traffic surveys and monitor the entry and exit of pedestrians and vehicles of all types, recording data regularly every 15 minutes to ensure the highest levels of accuracy and discipline in data collection. It was also decided that the monitoring activities would take place over two academic days, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, to measure the variations in traffic patterns. This would allow for the identification of morning and afternoon peak hours and the accurate scientific analysis of traffic density at each gate.

The importance of this participation stems from the fact that it is not merely field training, but rather reflects the contribution of college students to a national project aimed at supporting decision-making in the fields of transportation and urban planning. Through their participation, they will provide data that will help in understanding traffic patterns, improving gate organization, allocating operational resources, reducing congestion, and increasing the efficiency of traffic flow within and around the university. This experience also gives students a real opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in practice and refine their skills in monitoring, analysis, and organized fieldwork, thus enhancing their professional readiness and confirming their academic excellence.

On the sidelines of a thesis defense in the field of roads, the Dean of the Faculty received the former President of Aswan University and several professors of roads engineering from across Egypt.

Professor Khaled Salah, Dean of the Faculty, received Professor Ayman Mahmoud Othman, former President of Aswan University and Professor of Roads and Traffic Engineering at Aswan University; Professor Hassan Abdel-Zaher Mahdi, Professor of Roads and Traffic Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University; and Professor Ahmed Abdel-Mo'men Khalil, Professor of Transportation and Railway Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering in Shubra, Benha University, and the thesis supervisor. This meeting took place on the sidelines of their participation in the examination of the Master's thesis submitted by Engineer Ahmed Saeed Mohamed Hassan, a teaching assistant in the Civil Engineering Department at the Faculty. The Dean also received Engineer Hossam Badr, former Head of the Central Administration for Roads Research at the General Authority for Roads and Bridges.

The meeting was attended by Professor Hassan Younis, Professor of Roads and Traffic Engineering at the Faculty and one of the thesis supervisors; Professor Mohamed Abdel-Basset Abdo, Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the Faculty; and Professor Mahmoud Anib Othman, Head of the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty and Professor of Roads Engineering at the Faculty.
