Under the auspices of Professor El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, Dr. Mohamed Adawi, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, received Mr. Hatem Mohamed Qutb, President of the Syndicate of Social Workers and a member of the Committee for Child Protection and Combating Child Labor in Assiut, and the field representative and director of partnerships for Terre de Zoom - Egypt, in the presence of Dr. Ali Kamal Mabad, Director of the Center for Monitoring and Studying Community Problems, and Dr. Asmaa Gaber Mahran, Deputy Director of the Center, to discuss ways of cooperation between the Center for Monitoring and Studying Community Problems of the Affairs Sector. Environmental Development, Assiut Social Workers Syndicate, and Terre de Zoom Authority, Egypt.
The meeting discussed mechanisms for activating joint cooperation between the two sides, developing an action plan to implement a number of training and awareness programs and activities, in addition to discussing ways to benefit from scientific and practical experiences in preparing community initiatives aimed at supporting families, children and youth, and enhancing the role of social and psychological workers in confronting societal issues, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development and community service in Assiut Governorate.
Professor El-Menshawy stressed that the university is keen to build effective partnerships with various institutions and concerned bodies, based on its belief that integrative work represents a key pillar to achieve sustainable development. He explained that the cooperation with the Social Workers Syndicate reflects the university's orientation towards employing its academic and research expertise in supporting community initiatives, qualifying specialized cadres, and enhancing its ability to deal with societal issues according to scientific and professional foundations, in a way that contributes to achieving a positive and sustainable impact that serves the community in Assiut Governorate.
Dr. Mohamed Adawi stressed that this joint cooperation between the university, represented by the Center for Monitoring and Study of Community Problems, the Social Workers Syndicate in Assiut, and the Terre de Zoom Authority, comes within the framework of supporting community development efforts, by organizing a series of seminars, workshops, and training courses for social and psychological workers in Assiut Governorate in the fields of psychological, social and family counseling, in a way that contributes to raising their efficiency and enabling them to perform their roles within civil society institutions, in addition to providing support to various groups in the governorate's centers and villages. He also stressed that the university will continue to expand its partnerships with various national and international entities in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development and maximize the positive impact of the university's services in society.
Dr. Ali Kamal Mabad pointed out that the Center for Monitoring and Studying Community Problems plays a pivotal role in studying and addressing many societal issues that affect various age groups, including youth, children and the elderly, in addition to addressing negative societal phenomena and reducing their effects, expressing his happiness with this cooperation between the university, the Syndicate of Social Workers in Assiut and the Terre de Zoom Authority-Egypt,
which enhances community development efforts and achieves a sustainable development impact within Assiut Governorate.
Dr. Asma Jaber Mahran explained that this constructive cooperation embodies the importance of consolidating the principle of effective partnership and integration of roles between institutions, and relying on scientific foundations and specialized expertise in the preparation and implementation of development initiatives and programs, in a way that enhances community participation in facing various issues, and contributes to meeting the needs of society and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.
