Assiut University Enhances the Efficiency of Production Units at the Agricultural Experiments and Research Center within the Framework of Supporting Scientific Research and Community Service
Within the framework of the directives of Professor El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, to maximize the benefit of the university's research and production capabilities, the Agricultural Experiments and Research Center at the Faculty of Agriculture held a meeting to discuss the mechanisms of developing the center's units, and raising their operational and productive efficiency, in a way that supports the educational process and scientific research, and enhances the university's role in serving the community.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Adawi, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Chairman of the Center's Board of Directors, Dr. Adel Mohamed Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Gamal Abdel Latif, Head of the Department of Plant Protection, and Dr. Rashad Abdel Wahab, Head of the Department of Fruits.
Professor El-Menshawy stressed that the university adopts an integrated vision to maximize the benefit of its scientific and productive assets and capabilities, through the development of units and centers of a productive nature, to enhance its ability to provide more efficient educational, research, and community services.
The President of the University added that the optimal investment of the available capabilities is one of the main axes in the university's directions, not only to achieve sustainability and enhance its own resources, but also to transform the outputs of scientific research into practical applications that contribute to supporting development plans and providing an advanced educational environment that keeps pace with the needs of the labor market.
Dr. Mohamed Adawi explained that the Agricultural Experiments and Research Center is considered one of the main pillars to support research, training and consulting activities at the university, due to its capabilities that contribute to the development of the agricultural sector, and to link scientific research with practical application, in line with the requirements of modern agricultural development, and enhance the university's role in serving the community and achieving sustainable development goals.
During the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture reviewed an executive plan for the development of the center's production units and farms, stressing the importance of rational management of resources, maximizing the use of available lands and capabilities, in a way that contributes to increasing production, improving the quality of agricultural products, and achieving an economic return that supports the center's activities, in addition to providing agricultural
products to citizens at reasonable prices, and meeting the needs of the university's guest house of vegetables, fruits and dairy products.
The meeting also discussed the proposal to operate the fisheries unit in the farms of the Faculty of Agriculture and Al-Gharib Farm, in a way that contributes to diversifying the productive activities of the center, maximizing the use of its resources, and supporting the university's orientation towards achieving sustainable agricultural development.
Dr. Adel Mohammed pointed out that the development plan also aims to enhance the applied aspect of the students of the College of Agriculture, by providing an integrated training environment that allows them to acquire practical experiences, refine their skills, and qualify them in accordance with the requirements of the labor market.
