Assiut University Organizes the Activities of the "Your Safety First" Initiative at the Faculty of Dentistry to Promote the Culture of Occupational Safety and Health

Under the auspices of Professor El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, the Occupational Safety and Health Department, in cooperation with the Faculty of Dentistry, continued to organize the activities of the "Your Safety First" initiative to spread awareness and train university employees on the application of occupational safety and health requirements, under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Adawi, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Safaa Marzouk, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Mohamed Nahed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Basit Mohamed, Supervisor of the Department of Dentistry. Occupational Safety and Health in the University Sectors and University Hospitals, in the presence of a group of faculty members, staff, and doctors.
Professor. Ahmed El-Menshawy stressed that consolidating the culture of occupational safety and health is one of the main axes of the university's strategy, based on its belief that prevention is a shared responsibility, and that the dissemination of safe practices contributes to protecting the human element and preserving the university's capabilities, in a way that supports the sustainability of the educational and research process. He added that the university is keen to spread awareness, consolidate the culture of occupational safety and health, and build the capacities of its employees,
in order to enhance their readiness to deal efficiently with various emergency situations, in accordance with the best practices in the field of occupational safety and health.
Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Adawi stressed that spreading the culture of occupational safety and health, and promoting awareness of preventive measures, represent a key pillar to reduce risks, which contributes to providing a safe university environment that supports the educational process and maintains the safety of individuals and facilities.
During his lecture, which came under the title "Concepts of Occupational Security and Safety and the Procedures to Achieve Them", the Vice President of the University reviewed the concept of human security and its various dimensions, which include economic, environmental, food, personal, health, community, and political security, as well as the role of governance in supporting the safety system within institutions, by raising the efficiency of management, adhering to the laws and regulations regulating, and consolidating the principles of transparency, accountability and institutional responsibility, in a way that enhances the efficiency of risk management, and provides a safer work and education environment.
For her part, Dr. Safaa Marzouk praised the continuous support given by the administration of Assiut University to the "Your Safety First" initiative, stressing that the initiative contributes to spreading the culture of occupational safety and health, raising the awareness of students and workers on prevention mechanisms and proper handling of emergencies, in a way that enhances the culture of prevention, raises readiness to respond to crises, and consolidates safety standards within the university community.
The activities included a discussion session entitled "Occupational Safety and Health between Term and Application", moderated by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Basit Mohammed, during which he addressed the basic concepts of occupational safety and health, and the mechanisms for activating its requirements in various sectors of the university, in addition to reviewing the most prominent challenges facing its implementation, and presenting a number of practical practices that contribute to the development of the safety system and improving the level of institutional performance.
The activities also included a training workshop entitled "Practical Applications of Traffic and Follow-up in the Field of Occupational Safety and Health", presented by Ms. Shaimaa Mohammed Qutb, Acting Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department at the University, during which she reviewed field follow-up methods, mechanisms for assessing compliance with safety
measures, as well as clarifying the role of inspection and monitoring work in detecting sources of hazard, and taking appropriate preventive measures before accidents occur.
The activities concluded with the implementation of an applied training on the mechanisms of proper handling in emergencies, presented by Mr. Mohamed Abdel Aal, Supervisor of Civil Protection at the University, which addressed the procedures to be followed when dealing with accidents and crises, safe evacuation steps, and rapid response mechanisms for emergencies, in a way that contributes to raising the readiness of participants, reducing risks, and preserving lives and property.
